Foreigners and stateless persons who are issued residence permits by the State Migration Service are assigned a unique identification code (PIN code) by the relevant system (UMIS) to ensure their identification.

This PIN code, generated by the system, consists of 5 or 6 characters (letters and numbers) and is recorded on the machine-readable two-line optical character recognition part along the bottom of the front side of the residence permit cards (permission cards for temporary and permanent residence within the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan).

The PIN code is distinguished by a special mark in bold on the relevant cards issued by the State Migration Service (permission cards for temporary and permanent residence within the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as refugee cards).
