State Migration Service held a conference on the occasion of “International Day of Peace” in Goranboy

On September 7, a conference was held by State Migration Service in Heydar Aliyev Center functioning in Goranboy city which is included into the service area of Ganja Regional Migration Department with the participation of district public representatives, according to the provisions of “National Program for Action to raise effectiveness of the protection of human rights and freedoms in the Republic of Azerbaijan” approved by December 27, 2014 dated Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev in the frame of “Peace month” announced in connection with 21 September - “International Day of Peace”.

A statement on taken measures and gained results by State Migration Service towards raising awareness of people about requirements of legislation in the field of migration was presented at the conference.

At the event on which development of legal thought and culture of people, non-admission of discrimination, peace and tolerance, philosophical essence of national-moral values of our nation were talked about, it was stated that “Peace month” serves to propagate universal values and human rights with the goal to improve legal culture and thought between various groups of people.

It was noted that Heydar Aliyev who said “Azerbaijani people themselves, by their nature and by their character, possesses a high sense of tolerance” gave the most genuine and clear explanation of our attitudes towards universal values. Multiculturalism is peaceful and coexistence principle which is commonly recognized and based on tolerant attitude towards different cultures. The declaration of 2016 as the “Year of Multiculturalism” in Azerbaijan is a real example that our country is the place of tolerance.

It was brought into attention that the full celebration of International Day of Peace of Azerbaijani people of course, is only possible after the end of Armenian aggression against Azerbaijan and solution of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. The assurance was expressed that the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan will be completely restored under the leadership of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Commander-in-chief Ilham Aliyev.

The competent employees of Ganja Regional Migration Department gave information on activity directions of the Service, stated that fight against illegal migration is conducted both in order to ensure national security interests and to secure internal labor market in every state, as well as in our country and touched upon gained results. The measures implemented by SMS towards eradication of statelessness were mentioned with detailed facts.

It was stated that stability, dynamic development, provision of security of citizens in the Republic of Azerbaijan increase the flow of foreigners and stateless persons to our country.

The relevant measures taken by State Migration Service towards implementing state policy in the field of migration, strengthening state control, managing and regulating migration processes, as well preventing illegal migration were presented with numbers. The increase in number of applicants to Service in last months, receipt of more than hundred thousand applications only during a month regarding registration upon place of stay of foreigners and stateless persons willing to stay more than 10 days in country was noted. It was also mentioned that every month nearly 10 thousand applications are received from foreigners and stateless persons by State Migration Service on extension of temporary staying period, granting temporary and permanent residence permissions, adoption, revocation and restoration of citizenship, as well as establishment of citizenship and determination of refugee status, issuance of work permits for carrying out labor activity and extension of period of existing work permits. Each application is investigated in accordance with legislation of the Republic of Azerbaijan and relevant decisions are made.
