Meeting was held at State Migration Service with the representatives of the Republic of the Philippines

 

Chief of the State Migration Service, II rank state migration service counselor Firudin Nabiyev gave detailed information about the activity of the entity at the meeting with Robert O. Ferrer, Consular General of the Republic of the Philippines in Ankara and George Llabres, attaché of the Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines in the Republic of Turkey. Speaking about achievements attained in all spheres of Azerbaijan under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev Service chief drew attention to the experience obtained in a short period of time in the field of migration processes regulation and management by Azerbaijani state. He emphasized that national migration legislation has been formed. It was stated that total control is carried out over date of entry to the country, place of residence and work, date of exit from the country of each foreigner and stateless person.

Mass flow of refugees as a result of military and political conflicts occurring in the world in recent years, migrant crisis faced by Europe was discussed as well. Service chief mentioned that more than 1 million Azerbaijanis forced out of their native lands as a result of Armenian aggression are living as a refugee and IDP for more than 20 years. During the period of more than 20 years 250 thousand refugees and IDPs in Azerbaijan were moved to 93 newly established modern settlements for temporary residence.

Robert O. Ferrer, Consular General of the Republic of the Philippines in Ankara expressed his gratitude for warm welcome and detailed information.

Perspectives of cooperation in migration field between two countries, measures taken for protection of the rights of Philippines citizens residing in the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as rendered support was brought into attention of the guests. Opinion exchange was carried out on possibility of implementing joint measures for prevention of illegal migration and other issues of mutual interest.
