Information of the State Migration Service

According to the relevant decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan, starting from May 25, 2026, at 00:00, entry and exit via railway transport between the Republic of Azerbaijan and Georgia on the Baku–Tbilisi–Baku route has been restored for citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan and for citizens of foreign countries who have the right of visa-free entrance to Azerbaijan.

It is necessary for foreigners and stateless persons traveling to the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan via this route and leaving the country after the end of the visit to be aware of the requirements of the migration legislation of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

According to the migration legislation of the Republic of Azerbaijan, foreigners or stateless persons temporarily staying in the territory of the country for more than 15 days must be registered at the place of their stay. Temporary staying period of foreigners and stateless persons who enter the Republic of Azerbaijan under visa-free regime, cannot be more than 90 days excluding the cases envisaged by the international agreements that the Republic of Azerbaijan is a party to. According to the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the temporary staying period of the citizens of the Russian Federation in the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan is set at 90 days within a calendar year.

In order to ensure the comfort of passengers transported by rail on the Baku-Tbilisi-Baku route and to prevent delays due to the application of possible additional procedures, foreigners and stateless persons who are suspected of violating the above-listed requirements of migration legislation can apply to the "migration services" desks operating at the regional migration head departments (departments) of the State Migration Service or "ASAN service" centers before leaving the country, as well as obtain information about the restrictions imposed on their departure from and arrival in the country due to violation of migration legislation through the "Electronic Services" section of the Service's official website, both while in the country and before entering the country.

It should be noted that the activities of the State Migration Service have been ensured at the Boyuk Kesik railway station, which is the stop for the train running on the Baku-Tbilisi-Baku route. During the train's stop at the station, migration services are provided promptly to foreigners and stateless persons traveling to the country on the Baku-Tbilisi-Baku route.
