New composition of the Public Council under State Migration Service elected

On July 28, 2025, an election has been held to form the new composition of the Public Council under the State Migration Service (hereinafter - the Public Council) in accordance with the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On Civic Engagement", the relevant Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the execution of this Law, as well as the "Regulation on the election of the public council by civil society institutions" approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

A 9-member Election Commission was established to organize the election, and an official announcement was made to the public in advance that the elections would be held. A total of 27 candidates were registered to become members of the Public Council.

According to the election results, 9 candidates who received the majority of votes required by law were elected to the new composition of the Public Council.

The Public Council, which operates under the State Migration Service, is responsible for discussing issues related to migration, preparing relevant proposals, improving draft laws, studying public opinion, and exercising public control over the activities of the Service. According to the Law "On Civic Engagement", the term of office of the Public Council is two years.
