Meeting between the Chief of the State Migration Service and the Head of the Secretariat of the UN Network on Migration

A virtual meeting has been held between Vusal Huseynov, Chief of the State Migration Service, II rank state migration service counselor and Jonathan Prentice, Head of the Secretariat of the United Nations (UN) Network on Migration.

The Chief of the Service provided detailed information on the activities carried out and the results achieved by our country as a Champion Country in the implementation of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration. He also highlighted the preparatory work underway for the second International Migration Review Forum, which will be held on May 5-8, 2026.

Jonathan Prentice emphasized the steps taken by the Republic of Azerbaijan in implementing the Global Compact, shared his views on the matter, and wished success in the preparatory actions for the Forum.

During the meeting, an exchange of views was held on measures carried out at national, regional, and global levels in connection with the second International Migration Review Forum, as well as on Azerbaijan’s role as the co-chair of the Champion Countries initiative for 2026.
