Consultations with non-state partners held at State Migration Service

On March 12, 2026, in connection with the 19th anniversary of the establishment of the State Migration Service, a meeting has been held at the Service’s Headquarters on “State and Non-State Partnership in the Field of Migration: Cooperation Mechanisms and Prospects.”

The main objective of the meeting, attended by members of the Public Council, Advisory Board, and Migrant Council operating under the State Migration Service, was to contribute to inclusive, sustainable, and people-oriented migration management based on the Service’s interaction with civil society institutions, the private sector, and migrant communities.

Welcoming the participants, the Chief of the State Migration Service, II rank state migration service counselor Vusal Huseynov, provided information on the joint work carried out with international and local partners in strengthening progressive migration management in our country, the achievements attained and the new challenges faced. He emphasized that in the modern era, migration management is not limited to the responsibility of state institutions alone, but also requires the joint efforts of public organizations, the private sector, and migrant communities.

The Chief of the Service highlighted that the Public Council, Advisory Board, and Migrant Council functioning under the State Migration Service as important platforms serving for the national level application of the “whole-of-society approach” to migration management, which is also promoted in the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration.

Subsequently, discussions were held with the participation of members of the Public Council, Advisory Board, and Migrant Council on the improvement of existing dialogue mechanisms, prospects for inter-council cooperation, opportunities for more effective application of the “whole-of-society approach” in the country’s migration management, as well as on addressing current issues in migration governance.

At the end questions of participants were answered.
