Workshop held at the Regional Training Centre on Migration

A workshop on "Evidence Assessment and Burden and Standard of Proof regarding Asylum Applications" has been held at the Regional Training Centre on Migration, jointly organized by the State Migration Service (SMS) and the Representation of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Azerbaijan.

The workshop was attended by the representatives of the UNHCR, as well as employees of the SMS.

Ivan Charnetski, Director of the UNHCR Legal Department, and Elmar Mursaliev, representative of the SMS, emphasized the importance of the topic, highlighting the significance of the workshop in enhancing the knowledge and skills of Service employees dealing with asylum and migration issues.

During the workshop, representatives of the UNHCR, Aydan Seyidova and Sanan Hajiyev, as well as SMS employee Fidan Galandarova, made presentations. The presentations covered global trends in the relevant field, international legal framework and national legislation on the protection of refugees, burden and standard of proof in the context of asylum applications, assessment of evidence, and the structure of evidence.

At the end, there was an exchange of views on the topic.
